We're happy to announce the v1.5 release of Dogecoin. This major release moves Dogecoin up to match the latest Litecoin code base and includes several other tweaks to improve sync times dramatically. We recommend all users update to v1.5 immediately. To update, simply overwrite your existing Dogecoin install. As always, please make regular backups of your wallet.dat file.Downloads;_ Windows;_ Mac OS X;_ Source on GithubPlease note that due to a change in the database engine being used, a reindex will be required initially off your previously downloaded blockchain data - this should be quick however, and a full blockchain resync should not be needed. Make sure to backup your data directory before updating If you experience issues getting the client to sync: please close the client, delete all files from your data directory (except wallet.dat), and try opening the client again. For any other issues encountered, please report them on Github. We put a lot of development work into this, so a big thanks goes to http://www.reddit.com/u/voidref , http://www.reddit.com/u/langer_hans and all the other folks who helped made this happen. To the moon!!!!Changelog:1 - Updated code base to Litecoin 0.8.6.2 (inherits all Litecoin updates since 0.6.*). Highlights include:a - New database engine for block storage resulting in faster index/sync timesb - Implements txindex, reindex and walletnotifyc - Coin control options for advanced usersd - Overall increased stabilitye - A range of security fixes2 - Graphical tweaks, including splash screen3 - New official DNS seed added (seed.dogecoin.com) for improved sync times4 - Updated PROTOCOL_VERSION for better node detection5 - New alert keys to allow for network-wide alert notification in futureLinux binaries will be distributed shortly, stay tunedNote: If you're seeing unconfirmed transactions or a low (potentially zero) balance, don't panic! Wait for the reindexing to complete and everything will reappear, it just needs to reach the block where you received your previous DOGENote II: If you're receiving an error related to "-server", please delete the dogecoin.conf file from your data directory and restart the application. If for some reason you need server=1 enabled to use JSON-RPC, then set a very secure user/pass combo and restart the application. This is for your security.
I might be doing something wrong but I get the following error when i open dogecoin-qt.exe:"to use the '-server' option, you must set a secure rpcpassword in the configuration file: C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Dogecoin\dogecoin.conf It is recommended you use the following random password:rpcuser=dogecoinrpcrpcpassword=(a long random sequence of letters and numbers)The username and password MUST NOT be the sameIf the file does not exist, create it with owner-readable-only file permissions. It is also recommended to set alertnotify so you are notified of prolemsl; for example: alertnotify=echo %s | mail -s 'Dogecoin Alertadmin@foo.com"I changed that config file but it keeps giving me this error. What am I doing wrong?
I redownloaded and tried again and again. Still I get that error... What might fix this issue? The mining is still working thoughI did not change anything in the roaming map. Even the 1.4 doesn't work anymore now :s
I got the same error. Deleting my conf files from both roaming and the dogewallet fixed things for me.From reddit link: "Note II: If you're receiving an error related to "-server", please delete the dogecoin.conf file from your data directory and restart the application. If for some reason you need server=1 enabled to use JSON-RPC, then set a very secure user/pass combo and restart the application. This is for your security."
You the man! Thanks, that fixed the stuff. Now all it needs to do is reindex everything ^^Have some fame
