encrypted and zipped file password drama
« on: January 11, 2014, 11:37:34 PM »
Basically I had a few wallets created for a bunch of various coins, encrypted all of them via the client and then put them in a .rar archive with a password. Trying to extract them kept giving me a "Checksum error in the encrypted file filename.dat. Corrupt file or wrong password."
But then I tried 7-zip after like hours of torture (brute forcing attempts and data recovery before the archive was created), it still spat that error but my files were extracted at the same time too.

So what that hell is that? is there some sort of confusion with these zipped programs with .dat? or since they are encrypted within? Am I doing something wrong? Although not a huge sum but losing money is never a pleasurable experience.
