Can anyone help?
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:33:20 PM »
Hey everyone,

I can't get anything to work ;)

I installed cpuminer on an Ubuntu box, switch to that directoyr and type "minerd…." and it says command not found - even though the file is righ there.

Switched over to a Windows 2008 Server and when I unzip cpuminer - there's only 4 files - the .exe minerd and 3 .dlls. When I click on minerd I get a system error saying libcurl4.dll is missing try reinstalling the program. But I've never "installed" it - I just unzipped the downloaded file and found the 4 files. There is no installation file, just minerd.exe.

So I downloaded this other miner - Simple CPU Coin Miner - with the graphic of Donald Duck! - ran it for 30 hours, and received no coins. And it doesn't appear to have any place toenter pool information.

Is there no step-by-step instructions on setting a miner up from start to finish? Lots of details out there but nothing from exactly where to download, how to install and configure, enter pool information, and check to see if it's actually working….seems there's lots of trial and error.

I've tried dogecoin and memorycoin and been "mining" for days - with a 30k/s rate, I know, slow, but I'd expect to see something ;)

Anyone?

Thanks!

I gave up on minning i will get back into it once i have good graphics card, cpu and using the opencl never got me any coins either, so now i just work for my coins and accept donations. there are plenty of videos on youtube on how to setup what you are doing but at 30k you probably wont see much at all.

Thanks mroy - I hate to tell you that I'm a network architect and I can't get any of these things working…lol

I wasn't looking for 'much' - I just wanted to test the different mining tools/coins before I made an investment in an asic box…but I've configured mpls networks that are easier than doing this stuff!

The next big score in alt coins is going to be somebody that develops a miner that is simple ;)

I feel you, i know 6 different computer programming languages and i couldn't figure out how to mine coins the right way and actually feel like i was getting something for overheating my computers lol

I was working on installing a faucet script also with dogecoind , i couldn't get it to work on Centos server.

So I gave up. Maybe someday i will look into this some more.

Be interesting to know where all that mined coin went….sitting there watching my 8 cores pegged at 100%….like you said, it wasn't much, but it went somewhere. Glad I wasn't trying to mine with a $20K asic board and watch all my coins go into thin air!
