First you have to make sure you actually have dogecoin wallet version 1.4 installed. You can check your version easily as the version number is visible on the dogecoin image in the wallet application once it is running.

Prior to installing a new version, you should backup your wallet to a safe place of your choice, using "Backup wallet" option from the wallet "File" menu.

Now, try using this gandoges instructions to install the version 1.4 wallet:

- Download fresh 1.4 client from and unzip the files
- Close DogeCoin client if running
- Open Windows file explorer and go to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\DogeCoin (usually My Computer/Disk C/Users/YOURUSERNAME/AppData/Roaming/DogeCoin)
- Delete files blk0001.dat and blkindex.dat
- Copy "dogecoin.conf" from unzipped new wallet folder to above AppData folder
- Open "dogecoin.conf" and check if it is the same as below, if not copy/paste and save the file.


- Re-open DogeCoin client (dogecoin-qt.exe) from the new folder where you have unzipped the files and wait for it to sync

And my solution to the syncing problem was to reset/reboot my internet router, and then the client started to sync. Other users reported that rebooting the router didn't fix their problems.
