I have noticed that pools seem to get hit with DDoS a lot.

Why does this happen?

Is it competing pools attacking other pools in order to compete for coins?

Or is it just jerks who like to mess with others, since I have noticed an AWFUL LOT of hackers participate in CryptoCurrencies.

And, I have noticed that a LOT of hackers tend to do stuff like DDoS attacks for no reason other than they are "bored" (re: they are jerks).

There was another mining pool that was down this week due to upgrading after a series of DDoS attacks (it was a pretty good pool, too).

Can I expect this to be a regular occurrence?

I remember when Dogecoin first came out nearly every pool was getting DDoS'd at once. My guess was that it was an attempt to keep the difficulty low, because without the pool's websites, you couldn't register and start mining. I'm not sure why people are still DDoSing though.

I've been using for the past week or so and so far they haven't gone down once!
